at mercyhurst university, you can enhance your experience beyond the classroom through recognized student clubs/organizations (rscos). clubs and organizations offer activities designed for fun and camaraderie and are great ways to meet other students who share common interests. getting involved on campus is also a unique way to develop leadership skills and is an excellent resume builder for that first job after graduation. follow the links below to find out more about the rscos available and get involved and have some fun.
mission – the purpose of the accounting association shall be to provide students with real life accounting experiences through the use of tools and resources such as quickbooks, tax returns, funds, budgets, etc. the use of speakers and experiences will also be included for information to be acquired through experienced professionals and personal student experience. research will also be conducted to stay up to date on current tax changes, financial accounting standards board updates, generally accepted accounting principles updates, etc.

The purpose of HMA/PCMA shall be to provide professional development for hospitality Management students at Mercyhurst University. The HMA side of the club concentrated on service and the Chicago Food & Restaurant Show. As a club, we will do philanthropy events throughout the year organized by the HMA side. Philanthropic events may include, but are not limited to: Zumba-thons, March of Dimes, Relay for Life, volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank, and Adopt-a-Highway clean-ups. The PCMA side more focused on events management education. Our university club is part of the POWER Chapter of PCMA (Pittsburgh, Ohio, West Virginia, and erie region) and will attend said chapter meetings whenever they may occur in order to further member education.

the purpose of this organization is to provide a space for students to play games or simulations focused on aspects of war. the club seeks to be both an educational tool and a source of entertainment for the student body of mercyhurst. wargaming is different from board gaming in that there is often a historical scenario or an attempted learning objective at hand.

the purpose of pokémon go club shall be provided an open group for students, staff, and faculty members pf mercyhurst that enjoy playing pokémon go. our hope is to educate all members about the game, while providing recreational activities for those involved in the club. we aim to aid one another in our individual quest to go catch ‘em all.
the purpose of p.u.c.k shall be to create an environment that allows students interested in playing semi-competitive ice hockey with their friends a chance to thrive. our prime objective is to promote exercise and social growth through small non-contact games of ice hockey. we aim to create a social environment that is inviting as well as engaging to all those who participate.

the purpose of the sailing appreciation club is to expand the enjoyment of sailing to many students who have had much experience with sailing, some experience, or no experience at all. this club will be an excellent way for students to learn the basics of sailing, get hands on experience, and learn many different skills relating to the sport of sailing. the sailing appreciation club will not only help members learn the technique of sailing individually, but also as a group. members will then be able to apple these skills to real, on the water sailing, on lake erie. members will learn the different parts of the boat, and the safety measures taken while using a sailboat. they will learn the different terms used in sailing in order to fully understand the art. this club will expand the knowledge of its members in the sport of sailing and in return, they will be able to pass their newfound knowledge onto others and increase the already growing popularity of the sport. the club will join with other local boating and sailing clubs to acquire additional information and skills while working with boats. aside from just sailing, we will also do other sailing related activities on the water. some of these activities might include touring the brig niagara historical ship, touring the maritime museum, etc. in addition, through the club, members will be able to earn their official boating license, used for operation of a motor boat of any kind. along with sailing skills, members will also learn many team building and communication skills through working together to operate the boat. these skills can then be applied to future life situations. one must be responsible when operating a sailboat, so this will also teach leadership and accountability to not many have before. sailing is a very fun and exciting activity that i know most all students will enjoy and learn to love.
